Batman: Arkham Shadow Retail Tour
A Step Into Gotham’s Shadows
In anticipation of the release of the game Batman Arkham Shadow, we were tapped to create and produce a multicity touring experience that brought the gritty underworld of Gotham to life. We placed fans in the shoes of Gotham City Police detectives to work in tandem with Batman to track down the criminal the Rat King and his followers.
The experience started with a realistic crime scene designed to mirror the dark streets of Gotham. Featuring a custom-fabricated ransacked GCPD van, the scene was set with scattered police reports, claw marks on the vehicle, overturned crates, and the iconic Bat Signal, all signaling the mayhem and destruction inherent in the storyline.
Upon arrival, participants were greeted by GCPD officers who briefed them on the case and guided them through the crime scene., All cinematic elements were designed to immerse attendees completely within the narrative, uncovering scattered clues and subtle Easter eggs throughout the environment.
To really bring the story to life, participants were then led to VR headsets that flipped the perspective, simulating Batman’s advanced forensic tools for them to scan evidence, examine a crime scene in excruciating detail, and piece together the trail of the Rat King’s cult-like followers. This smooth integration of both physical and virtual elements provided a truly unique way for people to experience Batman’s world firsthand.
This was more than just a simulated investigation– it was a social experience. Every element provided prime backdrops for photos and ensured fans could share their adventure across social media. Custom Gotham-themed collectibles were provided at the end of the experience, narratively tying the experience to the game and the city where the event was hosted.
