ConFig 2025
Every event is an opportunity to transform brand ethos into a long-lasting experience. When we designed ConFig 2025, Figma’s annual flagship conference, we recognized a unique challenge: how to translate a platform built for digital collaboration into a physical community-centered event that would connect not only the 8,000 attendees in San Francisco’s sprawling Moscone Center, but also the thousands more participating online. The solution laid in treating the entire venue like a Figma board—iterative, interactive, and alive with possibility.
We wanted fans of the brand to feel the fun and fluidity it’s known for, especially during the keynote. To do this we worked closely with the Figma brand studio to craft dynamic content modes using this year’s brand identity. Those modes were then displayed on a huge 8K center screen flanked by smaller side screens so everyone in attendance could engage with the larger visual narrative of the conference.

Beyond the keynote stage, the rest of the conference unfolded as a series of playful, purposeful interactions. In the Maker Space digital whiteboarding was reimagined as a tactile experience with the FigJam Wall, a creative space inviting people to jot down ideas on sticky notes and cluster them like components on a board. Nearby, the Riso Station let guests design and print custom posters in a nod to Figma’s real-time functionality.

But we didn’t just lean on Figma’s visual identity to amplify their ethos. Collaborating with audio branding partner, Sounds Like These, we turned Figma’s sound library into a multi-sensory instrument at the Synth Station. Here, we transformed sounds people were unconsciously familiar with into something they could play using knobs, buttons, and touch-sensitive panels.

None of this would have mattered if the UX didn’t feel as seamless as the experience itself. Learning from past events, we redesigned the attendee journey from the ground up. Registration moved to the North Lobby to prevent bottlenecks, while environmental graphics doubled as both branding and intuitive wayfinding. We worked closely with the show team to coordinate all different elements of the show lighting, audio, and camera to create a parallel experience online with a dynamic broadcast. Every design choice was made to look good, encourage exploration, and foster connection.

ConFig 2025 was about how a digital brand’s power can and should leap off the screen. We didn’t just talk about Figma’s collaborative spirit, we built it into the walls, the interactions, and the soundscape. Every touchpoint from the sticky-note brainstorming to the synth machine to the lounge spaces allowed fans of the brand to step inside the platform and embrace working together.
